Sophia Institute Press published the book, Super Habits by Andrew Abela.

In the chapter on courage, Abela wrote, “individuals who practice perseverance and have a positive outlook are at a lower risk for depression, anxiety, and panic disorders.”
I know there’s no quick and easy answer for dealing with depression. But today, we’ll take it from one angle. The one suggestion for today is through perseverance. How can we practice this virtue? Abela wrote, “research indicates that perseverance can be improved through pursuing something that you care deeply about, since you’re more likely to overcome setbacks if you have an interest in the goal.”
So whether it’s physical health, learning an instrument, writing a book, or anything else on your heart, don’t quit.
Abela included a quote by former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld, “once you quit one thing, then you quit something else, and pretty soon you’ll get good at being a quitter.”
