CHAZOWN

Chazown is the Hebrew word for vision. We need to have the vision that we were fearfully and wonderfully made. We need to see through our heavenly Father’s eyes. We need to have an eternal perspective. We need to know that God is with us, near us, and provides for us. He has a good plan for us.

The Ador of Saint Carlo Acutis

Sophia Institute Press has a great book on Saint Carlo Acutis, entitled, God’s Influencer. There’s a ton of motivating nuggets in the book which include, but not limited to, the 15 promises of Mary for those devoted to the rosary, and how excellent St. Acutis was at computer programming like Java and C++ at age NINE! I ask, right here, for his intercession and help with this new online ministry.

His parents interviewed in the book said that Saint Acutis “to live it well he made use of the Latin word ARDOR, composed of the initial letters of Adoration, Thanksgiving (ringraziamento), request (domanda), offering, reparation.”

In Latin, “ardor” refers to a strong, passionate feeling, often of excitement, eagerness, or enthusiasm.

In my past experience in youth ministry as well as in catechesis, I’ve taught the acronym ACTS for Adoration, Contrition, Thanksgiving, and Supplication (requesting). Saint Acutis is taking it to the next level with his acronym of ARDOR by remembering to offer suffering up to God and for the intention of others. Additionally, Saint Acutis takes it up another level past contrition to also include reparation or in other words, repairing, making up for sins, or doing penance for sins.

Saint Carlo Acutis, pray for us!
